Users

(IMG) Users and user groups (labs) are created in ELNX in advance based on their current position and the information in the institutional user directory. Generally, one user (but it can be more) is assigned as the head (PI) of the user group. This user has the privilege to see all projects/notebooks of the group, and has the supervisor role in all of them by default (i.e., can sign the records/notebooks).

In case any user is removed from the institutional user directory (leaves the position), his/her user account is automatically deactivated (not deleted) from the system. In case the user returns, the account is automatically activated again.

For accounts that use the LDAP authentication data managed by IMG, user information cannot be changed in-app (contact IMG helpdesk for any changes in personal information or change password at signum.img.cas.cz).

Two-factor authentication

It is possible to use two-factor authentication to access ELNX, with either email or an authenticator app as the second factor.

  • email - user will receive an email with a single-use authentication code
  • authenticator - use any authenticator app to scan the provided QR code - authenticator apps like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or Apple Authenticator App can be used
    It is necessary to scan the set-up QR code with your authenticator when enabling this method. Without a configured authenticator, users will not be able to log back in after logging out.
